Using Glycolic Acid to Remove Acne Scars

Glycolic acid has worked wonders for my acne scars. Its a simple but effective to fade those dark marks you have after bad bout of acne. Glycolic acid helps to even out the skin tone in the uppermost layer of your skin and helps to improve the texture of your skin within the first week after you’ve used it. When used regularly, it can definitely remove a great amount of bad scarring easily.

So what is glycolic acid? It’s simply a a-hydroxy acid which is found in fruits like pineapple and sugarcane. It helps to remove dead skin cells to reveal a healthier looking face while stimulating collagen and elastin production, elements which regulate the stretch or flexibility of your skin. It’s found in small concentrations in several facial products although it is most often used by dermatologists as a chemical peel. These peel operations generally involved higher levels of concentration, up to 50% or more.

I would highly recommend using a high concentration glycolic acid peel instead of a over-the-counter product with a low concentration because it simply is more effective and you can see the results faster. The only downsides to glycolic acid is that you will develop redness for a few days and it makes your skin sensitive to sunlight, so you should take care of your skin by using sunblock whenever you are exposed to daylight.

What has worked wonders for me is a 35% glycolic gel peel, done in the comfort of my own home once a week. This one by Skin Laboratory is fantastic, doesn’t contain alcohol and it comes at a every cost-effetive $15.95 as well, which makes it very affordable. After using this, neutralize your skin with the Neutralizer skin pH Balancer or just use dissolved baking soda and you’ll see the effects soon enough. This glycolic acid solution really removes the dark spots left over on my skin and honestly I can’t recommend it enough.
