Sulfur is a mineral and is one of the ancient natural acne cures that dates back from Grecco times. Famous Greek physician Hippocrates also writes about sulfur’s healing ability on skin conditions such as acne lesions, acne rosacea and seborrheic dermatitis. Sulfur is a natural anti-bacterial germicide and fungicide. People have been using sulfur as a anti-parasitic balm since the olden times.  Given its keratolytic properties, sulfur acne products can aid in the exfoliation of the epidermis, which are effective against the formation of black and white heads.

Sulfur is one of the best products for mild to moderate acne. Sulfur may not be as effective for cystic or hormonal acne but when given time to work, it can dramatically reduce inflammation. Sulfur acne formulations comes in creams, lotions, soaps, gels, masks and washes. Sulfur is a by-product of refinement of petroleum and natural gas. Due to its distinctive scent, it is usually masked by fragrances in acne solutions. Sulfur is excellent for back acne, adult acne, teenage acne and body acne. To clear acne more effectively,  sulfur acne medication is combined with other acne solutions such as salicylic acid, resorcinol  and benzoyl peroxide. Salicylic acid and resorcinol shed dead skin and benzoyl peroxide kills acne bacteria. Acne creams with the mentioned ingredients are terrific for healing acne. Some acne creams with these ingredients are Acneclear and Nixoderm.  Rezamid Acne Treatment Lotion has 5% sulfur and 2% resorcinol to banish zits fast.

Sulfur mask for acne can also be used to clear acne fast. The famous Queen Helene Mint Julep mask is a sulfur mask that is popular among acne sufferers. Glytone makes an acne facial masque with a high percentage of sulfur- at 6.4% to purify pores. Acne cleansers with sulfur or plain sulfur soap for acne can also be used for clearing dermatological acne.
