Natural Toners and Lotions

Lotions are applied to the face after washing your face with a facial cleanser as treatment tonic to close and tone facial pores. Store bought lotions these days contains many processed herbs and beneficial additives but usually also boost alcohol base that may excessively dry up the skin, causing the skin to create more sebum to make up for the dryness.

A way to avoid alcohol is to make your own lotions. Homemade lotions can be as potent as store bought lotions but the downside to them is that they have a very short shelf live and usually require one to use them fresh or kept in a sealed container for 1- 2 days before they expire. So it is sensible to make small portions.

  • Lemon and Watermelon Toner: Juice 1 lemon and a 1 slice of watermelon. Apply to face.
  • Bee Propolis Lotion: 8 ounces of distilled water and 10- 11 drops of bee propolis extract. Mix and apply.
  • Chamomile and lavender Toner: Strain chamomile teabag and add 1-2 drops of lavender essential oil.
  • Green tea and tea tree Toner: Strain green teabag and add 1-2 drops of tea tree essential oil. White tea is higher in anti-oxidants and can be used as well.
  • Cabbage and Witch Hazel Lotion: Blend cabbage leaves till liquid form and add witch hazel extract, add juice of 1/2 lemon.
  • Mint and Cucumber Toner: Extract liquid from crush mint leaves and juice one cucumber. Mix and apply to face.
  • Groundnut oil and Fresh Lime Lotion: 1 tablespoon of groundnut oil and juice of 3 limes. Prevents both pimples and blackheads.
